 CoreAdmin - Frequently Asked Questions   (under construction)
 

• Question 1: I have forgotten my CoreAdmin username/password.  What do I do?
  
  A: Retrieve it from CoreAdmin as follows:
  1) Go to the CoreAdmin homepage
  2) Click on the link in “Existing UCSF Cancer Center Core Users, click here” in the bottom right corner of the login form
  3) Find your name in the window that pops up
  4) CoreAdmin will display an email address where it will send your account information. Verify that this is correct!
  5) Check your Inbox (for the above account!) for an email from CoreAdmin.
  
  
• Question 2: A new visitor/postdoc/research associate has joined my lab.  How do I set up an account for them to use CoreAdmin?
  
  A: Do the following:
  1) Login to CoreAdmin (there is a link on that page for retrieving your username and password, if you have forgotten them)
  2) Click on Manage funds and add a fund, if needed. If you want to use an existing valid account , click on Update for this account and make sure that the core that the user wants to use is checked.
  3) Click on Manage authorizations, and click on Authorize Brand New User to add an account for your new lab member.
  
  
• Question 3:  One of my lab members "X" can no longer order services, because the fund/authorization expired.   What do I do?
  
  A: You must extend the authorization for X on a current fund, or authorize X on a different (new) fund.
  1) Login to CoreAdmin (there is a link on that page for retrieving username and password, if you have forgotten them)
  2) Click on Manage funds and add a new fund, if needed (see Question 4 below)
  3) Click on Manage authorizations
     a) To extend an authorization, you should find the name X on that page,
        click on Update, and enter a new Authorization End Date;
     b) To authorize X to a new fund, you should click on the link "Authorize Existing User",
        then select the Account Name and your name and enter the Authorization Start Date and
        Authorization End Date in the window that pops up.
  
  
• Question 4:  How do I add a new fund to use in CoreAdmin?
  
  A: Use the "Manage Funds" page
  1) Login to CoreAdmin (there is a link on that page for retrieving username and password, if you have forgotten them)
  2) Click on Manage funds and click "Add" on the link just above the table of your currently authorized funds
  3) Fill out the form in the window that pops up.  See the procedures document for more details
  
  
• Question 5:  How do I delegate CoreAdmin administration to my assistant?
  
  A: Give your assistant your account username and password, then point them to this FAQ and the procedures document.
  
  

• Question 1: I am a new CoreAdmin user.  How do I get an account?
  
  A:  Ask your PI to authorize you to one of his/her valid funds.  Send your PI this link for assistance:  http://coreadmin.ucsf.edu/help/FAQ.html. Then, see Question 2 below to fetch your password. If you still cannot order work from the core that you want to use, it is likely that the core has not been added to the fund you are on. Ask your PI (designee) to follow the instructions in Question 2 above.
  
  

• Question 2: I need or have forgotten my CoreAdmin username/password.  What do I do?
  
  A: Retrieve it from CoreAdmin as follows:
